CUSTOMER IN FOCUS - PETER SURIDGE
Once a month we feature one of our customers about their health and fitness journey and life in general. This month we are featuring Peter Suridge (photo in the Grey/Black Move Shorts).
Enjoyed running as a kid and got back into in 2013, read Peter's journey below:
Where are you from?
Originally – Perth WA, but I’m an Adopted Queenslander now living southside of Brisbane.
What got you started on your health and fitness journey?
I always enjoyed running as a kid, but pretty much stopped as soon as I started working. It wasn’t until 2013 when my Partner decided to do the International Woman's Day 5k fun run that I decided to get back into a bit of running, somewhat a bit heavier than when I stopped running 😊.
If anyone who do you look up to for health and fitness inspiration?
Not really any 1 person, everyone can be an inspiration at times.
There are some amazing people doing amazing things that aren’t at peak fitness, While I admire the front runners and top athletes, it’s the mid pack runners that I think provide the motivation.
What is your favourtie fitness activity?
Running, with a bit of Gym thrown in and some hiking too.
What has been your favourite event/race to date?
I have a few:
- Coastal High 50 is always a favourite
- Kokoda Challenge
- Shot over Moonlight Mountain Marathon
- The Inaugral Yarrabilba Trail fest (only because I had a really good run 😊)
Why would you recommend Maw Active?
Apart from the good looking apparel, the community around it and the knowledge that every time I purchase something a portion goes to a great cause.
What is your Favourite TV Show?
I don’t have normal TV, so not sure what’s out there. There are a few TV Shows on the streaming services that I like. The Boys, Silo, The Witcher, Ted Lasso, From I could go on, but most of them will only last a couple of seasons.
Older TV Shows that I could re-watch over and over again are things like Seinfeld, The Office (Us Version), The Inbetweeners (UK Version), Life on Mars (UK Version).
What adversity have you had to overcome to get to where you are?
I haven’t really overcome anything.
I had really bad asthma as a kid, so that’s something I guess.
What is your favourite piece of Maw Active gear?
Currently the Hoodie, 😊 but my go to shorts have been the Max Shorts, until the Move Shorts came out 😊. I am hanging out for the new Singlets though.
What are two things you attribute to achieving your goals?
Not so much recently, but when I was fitter it would have to have been consistency! I was a lot more consistent with my training a few years ago and it paid off. Also an understanding partner who lets me have my time on the trails 😊.
Favourite place in the world you have visited?
New Zealand! Queenstown was just amazing, more so the mountains than the town!
What has been your greatest achievement to date?
Sporting:
- 2018 48km Kokoda Challenge 1st Place
- FKT on the Link track between BVRT and KKRT
- And pretty much anytime I finish an Ultra
If you could what event/race would you like to undertake in the world?
Western States 100 Mile, or any Trail Ultra over there, it just looks raw and fun!
