CUSTOMER IN FOCUS - BENNY KENT
Once a month we will be featuring one of our customers in an email about their health and fitness journey and life in general. This month we are featuring Benny Kent (photo in the PERFORMANCE COMPRESSION SHORTS & CLASSIC BLACK TEE).
After been told he would never run again due to a Motor Cross injury, Benny decided to prove everyone wrong and did he ever. Read below to find out his incredible journey from wheelchair to ironman:
Where are you from?
Dawesville Western Australia about an hour south of Perth
What got you started on your health and fitness journey?
Have always been active but after shattering my right leg in a motocross accident and been told i wont run again I decided to ditch the party lifestyle and really focus on my health and fitness and to prove the docs wrong and set a good example for my 2 young boys.
What tips do you have for someone who is just starting their journey?
Start slow and be patient. Also something I’ve been trying to do is letting go of been perfect weather it be fitness or nutrition. Good 80% of the time is a great happy medium and will still see results
What are you daily habits that allow you to exercise and stay on track?
Drink a pint of water as soon as I wake up. Stay hydrated throughout the day.
Also try to stretch daily and meditate at least twice a week to keep the mind healthy.
What has been your biggest health and fitness goal of 2019?
Well it certainly changed throughout the year. My first goal was to rehab my leg after surgery at the end of 2018. I had a goal of finishing an off road triathlon at the end of march which then snowballed to finishing an ironman 70.3 at the start of December
What is your favourite item of Maw Clothing?
The Performance Compression Shorts pretty much every time I run unless its in my tri suit I will be in those bad boys. The performance tee for the winter trail running series was a must have too!
What adversity have you had to overcome to get to where you are?
Kinda covered it above but completely shattered my right leg and cracked my left ankle in a motocross accident in 2016 so was in a wheel chair for a few weeks and had to learn to walk again. Aswell as multiple other injuries from motocross.
What is your favourite fitness event you have undertaken?
I am still on a high from ironman 70.3 Busselton so that would be my favourite loved every minute of it!
Who inspires you?
A lot of the MAW brothers who are all chasing their dreams weather its 5km pbs or ultra marathons or Ironmans or long distance ocean swims. I just love watching everyone inspire to be better all while having a smile on their face!
And pretty much anyone who has come from been broken to reaching their goals!
Just incredible, from learning to walk again to an Ironman finisher in one year, shows what determination this legend has. Thank you for your raw and honest story brother
We can't wait to bring you next Month's customer in focus.
